How to speak good English: Pronouncing the Word “Says”

For example, you would expect that the pronunciation of “pays” would apply to “says”.

But that isn’t the case. Instead, “says” is pronounced as, | sɛz |. With the “e” sounding as you have it in egg. Quite strange isn’t it? But that is what the English language is all about.
